Ted Baker, a designer clothing brand, said business had started well in its new fiscal year as store openings and strong demand helped it to a big jump in profits.
Profit before tax and exceptional items for the year to the end of January rose 23.7% to £49.5m ($74m), in line with analysts’ forecasts, with sales up more than 20% to £387m, double the level five years ago.
The company raised its total dividend 19.6% to 40.3p.
Sales for UK and Europe grew 17% in the year and were up 25% in the US and Canada. The group’s wholesale and license arms also grew strongly.
