Malcolm Turnbull, Prime Minister of Australia has recently spoken to British Prime Minister Theresa May concerning a free trade deal between the two countries. However, this may take longer since the UK is technically still a part of the EU. Analysts have cautioned that trade deals negotiations would take a long time despite that May argues against this by claiming that the government guarantees a successful exit from the European Union.
May states that the government plans to embrace opportunities like free trade deals with several others from the globe and is encouraged by Australia’s proposal. However Howard Archer, an economist claims that the UK should focus on the most significant trading partners and major deals that are concluded and negotiated quickly. The UK is currently focusing on how few trade negotiators they have gotten.
It is suggested that a trade negotiator between the UK and Australia will take longer and that they should focus on China instead.
