Singapore Exchange’s latest disruption blamed on hard disk malfunction

SGX has been experiencing a series of halts, wherein the company claims that the latest disruption in the market was due to a defect in its hard disk and an app that failed to detect the error.

The company is also in the middle of a decline in volume, slipping by 6.1 percent from last year. Chief Executive Officer Loh Boon Chye informed the reporters that they will improve the planning scenarios of the bourse. The recent disruption in the stock market has been the third under Chye’s management.

Meanwhile, the central bank stated that it will decide on the appropriate supervisory actions for SGX as its recent halt exceeded the maximum downtime for financial institutions.
