European Union leaders reached an agreement for the plan on Brexit talks on Thursday, vowing to move rapidly and keep unity to ensure the United Kingdom won’t secure a sweet deal which might prompt other member countries to leave the bloc.
UK Prime Minister Theresa May left before the other 27 European leaders met quickly to finalize the procedures for handling EU exit discussions. She said it is right for her counterparts to become ready for such talks.
Envoys said the British premier assured her fellow EU leaders that she would begin the two-year process by the end of March next year amid an ongoing constitutional court hearing on the timetable.
In a statement, EU officials said they were determined to secure the union’s success and were willing to hold swift negotiations to resolve the uncertainties that surfaced by the EU exit.
