Dealing with heightening criticism for not exerting efforts to deal with such matters, Facebook on Thursday launched certain measures to tackle hoaxes and fake news.
Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg, in a blog post, said the company is testing and beginning to introduce some changes focusing on clearing these posts propagated by spammers for their benefit.
The social networking site will work with fact-checking institutions included in Poynter’s International Fact-Checking Network. If a particular algorithm or users flag a post or story as dubious, the organizations will review such cases.
All posts or stories that have been considered as disputed are deprioritized in users’ news feeds and won’t be made into an advertisement and promoted on the site.
